Duane J. Dunn, age 73, of Elkton died Monday afternoon, December 30, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility.
He was born March 3, 1929 in Bay City to the late Harry and Agnes (VanWert) Dunn.
After serving in the US Army Duane moved to Elkton and worked at his dad’s service station at the corner of N. Main and Brown St. and with the railroad for a while.
On July 1, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mildred D. Zarnke at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. They moved to Flint shortly there after and he began a career at Buick. In March of 1993, he retired as a supervisor after 43 years with Buick, four months later they moved back to Elkton.
He was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon; he enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling. He also loved gardening and was and avid reader.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred; four children, Marilyn Campbell of Flint, James (Diana) Dunn of Flushing, Beth (Robert) Covers and Timothy Dunn both of Swartz Creek; six grandchildren, Jason, Sara, Carri, Becky, Alex and Andre’; his sister, Patricia Brown of California and his brother, Robert (Theresa) Dunn of New Mexico. His sister, Sr. Marie Magdalene (Betty) preceded him in death.
A funeral mass will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, January 2, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. Sr. Theresa Fox and Fr. George Serour will officiate with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
A parish scripture service will be conducted 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton where friends may call from 3 to 9 PM Wednesday and after 12 noon on Thursday.
