Duane "Mick" James Deering

Duane James "Mick" Deering, age 88, of Unionville, passed away at home with his family by his side under the care of McLaren Hospice.

Duane was born in Gagetown on June 7, 1937, to Adam and Mattie (Bingham) Deering and graduated from Owendale High School. He married Carol Kuhl on December 27, 1958 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Bach. He was a member of St. Peter's and served for several years as elder and trustee. Duane enjoyed going to gas engine shows and old tractor shows, showing off his bulldog gas engine and Rumely Oil Pull, which once belonged to his father-in-law.

Duane is survived by his wife, Carol; children: Sue (Jim) Albrecht, Kathy (Jim) Hofmeister and Dan (Teri) Deering; grandchildren: Melissa (Rich), Branden (Jessica), Travis (Cass), Brandon (Jen), Casey (Lisa), Andrew and Zachary; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Roger Deering and several nieces and nephews.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Connie Deering and Valerie Downing.

A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church (Bach). Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Pastor Thom Garrison will be officiating. A luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
