Duane Joseph Ropp

Duane J. Ropp, 92, of Pigeon, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Scheurer Health in Pigeon.

Duane was born May 4, 1932 in Pigeon to the late Elmer and Mary (Keim) Ropp.  In 1950 he graduated from Pigeon High School.  He married Elaine Swartzendruber on July 30, 1954 at Pigeon River Mennonite Church.

Duane retired from the Cooperative Elevator Company as manager of the Colored Bean Plant in 1995.  He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and craftshows.  He was a member of the Pigeon River Mennonite Church.  Mostly he loved spending time with his family.

Duane is survived by his wife Elaine; daughters Shirley (Larry) Dilleree of Bay Port, Pat (Durwin) Jacobs of Pigeon, Donna (Dale) Pietruck of Caseville and Becky (Dennis) Engelhardt of Sebewaing; grandchildren Tammy, David, Matthew, Renee, Aaron, Jennifer, Nathan, Katie, Lindsay, and Shelby; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; and brother Leon (Patsy) Ropp of Bradenton, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his siblings Catherine Miller, Elmer, Harold, Lyle, Carolyn Moyer, and Grace Blair.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am Saturday, February 8th at the Pigeon River Mennonite Church with Rev. David Maurer officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 2-8 Friday at the church.  Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
