Duane W. Ruby of Caro, formerly of Saginaw, age 83, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the United Hospice Residence in Marlette, following a brief illness. Duane was born August 13, 1929 in Saginaw, the son of the late Wilbur & Julia (Marceillis) Ruby, living in Saginaw until coming to Caro with his family in 1964. Duane served in the U.S. Army during World War II, with the last eighteen months of his enlistment, stationed in Japan. Duane was united in marriage with the former Janice A. Schnarr on January 28, 1950 in Saginaw. Following the war, Duane became a Master Plumber, working out of the Union Hall Local #85 in Saginaw, mostly in new construction, retiring in 1986. Following his retirement, Duane became a Master Gardener in flowers, produce and trees and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Duane is survived by his wife of over sixty-three years, Janice A. Ruby of Caro; six children and their spouses, Linda & Robert Tolfree of Reese, Steven Ruby of Saginaw, Janette Mossner of Caro, Cindy & Jeff Hawley of Mayville, Tom & Georgene Ruby of Caro, Pamela Forman of Caro; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters and their spouses, Norma & Robert Hamlin of Saginaw, Valerie & Milford Schuette of Leland; and several nieces and nephews. In respect of Duane's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro.
