Duane Richard Schember

Duane R. Schember, 74, of Pigeon, passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe.

Duane was born April 5, 1948, in Pigeon to the late Walter and Eleanor (Lucht) Schember. He graduated from Laker High School in 1966. He married Marie Brakenberry on May 27, 1967, in Bad Axe.

Duane worked in the farming industry, retiring in 2000 from Active Feed and John Stalter Farms. He was a member of Michigan Ave. Mennonite Church. He enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, walking, mowing lawns and shoveling snow. He liked to give a piece of candy to people he would meet.

Duane is survived by his wife Marie; sons Philip (Holley) of Allen Park and Douglas (Kari) of Bay Port; grandchildren Courtney, Nicholas, Lauren, Aiden, Owen, Rachel, and Evan; and sister Josephine (Larry) Rockefeller of Owendale. He was preceded in death by his brothers Dale, Darold, Clare, and Edwin and daughter-in-law Stephanie.

Funeral services will be 11:00am, Monday, January 23rd at the Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scot Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Grand Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00am to 5:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Michigan Ave. Mennonite Church.
