Duril Martindale of Caro, age 82, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw. Duril was born August 21, 1934 in Caro, the son of the late George and Gertrude (Fenner) Martindale. He was a retired Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict, earning a Bronze Star, and the Vietnam War, earning the Purple Heart. Duril had been Chaplain of Fairgove VFW Post 7486, member and had served as commander of Caro VFW Post 4164, a member of the Caro First Baptist Church, and a past player with the U.S Army Redlander baseball team. He liked hunting, fishing, playing pool, and traveling to Hawaii. Duril is survived by one daughter and her husband, Gwenda & James Moore of Vail, Arizona; one sister, Doris Witkovsky of Caro; and a brother and his wife, Roger & Joann Martindale of Gagetown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Martindale. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Caro First Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Wigand officiating. Military honors will be afforded by Caro VFW Post 4164. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
