Ed Townsend

Ed Townsend, age 73, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, August 11, 2007. Ed was born January 20, 1934 in Canton, Ohio, the son of the late Samuel Wayne (Kuemerle) Townsend. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Navy and was stationed in several parts of Europe. In his later years, he owned and operated Akron Country Lanes for 16 years, retiring in 2001. Ed will be best remembered as an avid bowler, and was the secretary of the Bay City Bowling Association for many years. He also enjoyed watching car races, playing cards, and working with computers. Ed is survived by his special friend and companion, Elaine Westfall of Fairgrove; four daughters and their spouses, Sharon Townsend of Bay City, Lisa Tim Townsend-Moore of Sterling Heights, Lori Garland Brewster of Richardson, TX, Mary Roger Jacoby of Akron; five grandchildren, Mason and Kaylee Moore, Cameron Brewster, Mackenzie and Connor Jacoby; two sisters and two brothers, all of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Townsend.
