Edgar D. Shepherd 78, a resident of Bad Axe peacefully passed away June 9, 2025 while at Huron Medical Care Facility under hospice care. He was born March 11, 1947, in Port Hope, to Gladys Marie Shepherd. Ed was adopted and raised by his grandparents, George and Lydia Shepherd shortly after his birth.
Edgar Shepherd and Ida Danks were united in marriage on April 17, 1971. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pigeon where he and Ida would marry. Ed loved his job at the Pigeon Co-Operative Elevator where he worked for over twenty-five years. You could often find him tinkering around in the garage making things out of nothing. Edgar was an active member of a bowling league and loved sitting at the Dutch Kettle drinking his coffee. He enjoyed playing euchre, watching WWE-wrestling, watching the birds, and making people laugh. Above all, Edgar loved spending time with his family and friends. He was always willing to help others with nothing given back in return.
Ed is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Ida Shepherd of Bad Axe; their two children, Jenifer (Michael) Larson of Sault Saint Marie and Jeffrey Shepherd (Carol) of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Matthew Larson (Paige) of Dafter and Brianna Larson of Sault Saint Marie; great-granddaughter, Connie Larson of Dafter; as well as several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Orlen (Barbara) Shepherd, Keith (Diane) Shepherd, Elsie (Robert) Craig, Travadon (Oscar) Schave, Terry Reinke, Arlene (Tim) Vahorick, Rhonda Krug, Renee VanOrden, Dan (Stephanie) Carson, and Don Carson; many nieces and nephews. Edgar was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Lydia Shepherd; mother, Gladys Marie Carson; siblings, Leland Shepherd, Mary Ellen Shepherd, Wanda Otis, Mildred Ropp, and Beverly Laceski.
The family would like to thank the staff at Huron Medical Care Facility as well as Heartland Hospice Care for taking such good care of Edgar especially during his final days.
