Edith Irene (Butler) Rae, age 80, of Akron passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at Vadavilla Adult Foster Care Home, Unionville. She was born on August 7, 1930 in Cass City to the late Elmer and Ida (Beach) Butler. Edith Butler married Robert K. Rae on August 20, 1949 in Gagetown. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2002. They had been married 53 years. She enjoyed square dancing and going to softball games with her husband because he coached. She also helped her husband with his work as Akron Township Treasurer along with helping him on the farm. She loved deer hunting in the U.P. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry E. (April) Rae of Colorado Springs, CO and Alan R. (Dale) Rae of Caro; five grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Simpkins of Traverse City, Jason (Theresa) Rae of North Branch, Rayanna Rae of Colorado Springs, CO, Ryan Rae stationed in Okinawa, and Brett Rae of Navarre, FL; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Dodds of Saginaw and Liz (Dane) Geisbert of Ortonville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, Ken, Jerry and Frank Butler, and Alice McComb. The funeral service will be held at the Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Comfort officiating. Burial will be at Demorest Cemetery, Akron, MI. Visitation will be held at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Edith Rae family discretionary fund, c/o Alan Rae.
