Edna E. Schaper, age 90 of Owendale, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Willow Tree Haven in Gagetown.
Born at her family's home in Sebewaing on September 30, 1920, she was the daughter of John and Clara (Koch) Buehler and graduated eighth grade from Lutheran School in Sebewaing. On January 25, 1941 she was united in marriage to Marvin Schaper in Sebewaing. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1997.
Edna was a homemaker throughout her lifetime and worked at the Owendale Elevator during the 1940's and 1950's. She also helped on the farm. Edna and Marvin enjoyed traveling to California and Florida, and owned a winter home in Brooksville, Florida. She enjoyed watching television game shows. Edna was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Linkville.
She is survived by a sister, Mabel A. "May" Kain of Owendale; many nieces and nephews; two cousins; and a brother-in-law, Alton (Jeanine) Schaper of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Buehler and John "Jack" Buehler, who was killed in Germany during World War II; a sister-in-law, Denise; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William II and Betty Schaper.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with Rev. Lee Wenskay, pastor, officiating. Cremation will take place, and burial will be in Grandlawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Heartland Hospice.
