Edward L Arn

Edward L. Arn of Caro, age 75, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his home. Ed was born March 26, 1943 in Saginaw, the son of the late Leon & Betty (Dwyer) Arn. He grew up in Saginaw and enlisted at age seventeen with the U.S. Air Force where he served for eight years as a C-130 mechanic and took part in photographing the island of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Following his honorable discharge in 1968, Ed began work with the Arnold Drug Store in Saginaw and transferred as a manager with the company to Bad Axe where he would meet his future bride, the former Joan LaFave. Ed and Joan were united in marriage on July 14, 1972 in Bad Axe. In 1977, the couple opened Bad Axe Lumber and operated the business with Ed also serving on the Bad Axe city council. In 1985, he moved to Dearborn Heights and managed Handy Andy Lumber there until returning to this area to own and operate Arn Industries, a cultured marble manufacturing plant. Ed finally retired in 2010 and enjoyed filling his free time with trips to the casino, playing his guitar, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Joan Arn of Caro; two sons, James Arn of Port Huron, Mark Arn and his wife, Lynn, of Clarkston; five grandchildren, Jordon, Kaitlyn, Ember, Zachary, and Maksim; two brothers; one sister; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro, with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
