Edward H. Fuerst

Edward H. Fuerst went to his eternal home, Sunday, April 24, 2011 after an extended illness at the age of 93. Edward was born September 15, 1917, son of Christian and Florence (Unger) Fuerst. He was born and lived in Huron County his entire life. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Kilmanagh, MI. He married Lucille Gettel September 8, 1945 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Bach, MI and then moved to Sebewaing to make their home.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His life was shared with his wife Lucille of 65 years, one Daughter, Janet (Robert) Reithel of Lapeer, one son, Gene Fuerst of Sebewaing, one granddaughter, Miranda Sue Fuerst of Sebewaing, and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by four sisters and two sister-in-laws, Viola Guillett of Caro, MI, Lillian Rothfuss of Sebewaing, Hannah Armbuster, of Allen Park, MI, Luella Calvin of Stanwood, WA, Johanna Fuerst of St. Helen, MI, and Donna Fuerst of Sebewaing, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

He was employed at Active Industries until its closing, then at Tower Automotive until his retirement. His hobbies included small engine repair, repairing bicycles and carpenter jobs. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing, MI.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 2-8pm at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, 538 S. Beck St, Sebewaing, MI.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 800 E. Bay St., Sebewaing, MI. Visiting will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11a.

Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Sebewaing, MI.
