Edward "Pop Bottle" Harris

Edward A. "Pop Bottle" Harris of Caro, age 79, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his residence. Ed was born November 15, 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Edward & Genevieve (Heilman) Harris, and has been a long term resident of Caro, living at Hilltop House since April 30, 1985. Ed loved to dance and had won dance ribbons in different events he had entered. He was a hard worker and had worked as a farm hand, lawn clean-up, and with mental health activities. One of Ed's favorite activities, besides his daily walking trips to Kentucky Fried Chicken, was to go door to door and collect pop cans and pop bottles thus giving him the nickname, "Pop Bottle." Ed loved to camp, and was also very active in the state and local Special Olympics. He is survived by one sister, Shirley Seelye of Sterling Heights; sister-in-law, Joyce Harris of Roseville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by one brother, William; and a brother-in-law, Bruce. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Hilltop House in Caro.
