Edward Preston, age 84, died peacefully on July 26, 2012 at La Hacienda Health Care Center in Green Valley, AZ.
Ed was born February 5, 1928, in Manistique, Michigan. He graduated from Harding High School in Marion, Ohio and later from Michigan State University, which led him to a career in finance and banking.
Ed married Margaret “Peggy” Park on September 17, 1949, at her parents’ home in Caro. He graduated from Officers Candidate School in Fort Belvoir, Virginia and served in the Army during the Korean War. The couple lived in Michigan, Washington, D.C., Indiana, and California before settling in Fargo, North Dakota for nearly thirty-five years. In Fargo, Ed served as an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church and worked as a loan officer and Vice President at Dakota Bank, and later at Metropolitan Federal Bank. He and Peggy eventually retired to Green Valley, Arizona.
Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, the Vikings, and bridge. Ed will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband and father.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Margaret Park Preston; children, James Preston (Marya) and Mary Benson (Keith); grandchildren, Rachel Benson and Joel Benson; brother, Philip Preston (Kathleen); sister-in-law Doris Rawson; nephews and nieces: James Rawson, Laurie (Sam) Treadway, Mark Preston, Tammy Preston, Linda Preston and Jana (Matt) Serbenski. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Delbert Rawson.
