Edward M. Schember, 89, of Elkton, died Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe.

Ed was born October 13, 1934 in Oliver Township to the late Alfred and Lydia (Staehli) Schember.  He graduated from Elkton High School in 1952.  Ed's life work and passion was dairy farming.  He enjoyed gardening and all sports, especially the Detroit Tigers and Lions. Each year the family would make the trip to a Tiger's game and the Detroit Zoo.  He also enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren with their fair animals.


Ed is survived by the mother of his children Jean (Wessels) Schember; children Debra Ramento of Elkton, Cindy (Edward) Nichol of Tulsa, OK, Cheryl (Mark) Dickendesher of Sandusky and Trudy (Daniel) Gonzales of Frankenmuth; grandchildren Adam (Corie) Ramento, Ashley Ramento, Andrew (Aleana) Ramento, Justin Nichol, Travis Dickendesher, Donald Schember, Nicholas Schember and Dylan Schember; 8 great-grandchildren and siblings Alene McCracken and Wayne Schember.  He was preceded in death by his son Donald; brothers Walter, Clarence, Olin, Kenneth, Earl, Robert, Jerry and sister Evelyn Haley.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Friday, April 5th at the Community Wesleyan Church in Elkton with Rev. Ean Green officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10-11 on Friday before the service at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Community Wesleyan Church.  Champagne Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
