Edward J. Shrontz

Edward J. Shrontz of Caro, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at his home. Ed was born July 21, 1974 in Caro, the son of the late Raymond and Linda (Davis) Shrontz. He graduated from Caro High School with the class of 1993 and enlisted with the U.S. Army shortly after. Ed was honorably discharged in 1997 and returned to Caro where he sold cars for Joseph Chevrolet in Millington and Pat Curtis Chevrolet in Caro. He later worked as a driver for FedEx and most recently as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, having just recently been promoted to career status. Ed was a dedicated family man that loved spending time with his children. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Ed was also very active with the Caro High School Football Chain Gang and was a fan of the New York Yankees and University of Michigan football team. He was a natural comedian that connected easily with anyone he met. He also enjoyed bowling and spending time with fellow members of the Caro Moose Lodge. Ed is survived by his wife, Laura Shrontz of Caro; five children, Ashlyn (Mason Steinmann) Shrontz of Caro, Zachary (Angela Papp) Karle of Akron, Tyler (Stacia Cohee) Karle of Caro, Kassondra Shrontz of Caro, Olivia Shrontz of Caro; two siblings and their spouses, Tammy & Wayne Phillips of Caro, Wayne & Renee Shrontz of Columbiaville; father-in-law, Roy Hartman of Akron; special uncle, Ernie Shrontz of Grand Rapids; special family friend, Nicholas (Cindy) DeFrancesco of Freeland; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by an infant son, Bradley Shrontz; and Walter Urban. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Mark Ransford facilitating. Burial will follow at Almer Township Cemetery in Caro.
