Edward Christopher Smith, Jr. of Covington, Georgia, formerly of Caro, age 61, passed away on March 22, 2020, the son of the late Edward Christopher Smith, Sr. and Verna Cathleen Mullin Smith. He was born June 5, 1958. Edward raised thousands of dollars doing charity work as Miss Sharon Needles. He was employed as a beautician for over thirty years. Edward raised chickens, loved his dogs, and was always willing to help anyone in need. He is survived by one sister, Caroline "Sue" Bach and her husband, Dennis; one brother, Timothy Smith and his wife, Angela; sister-in-law, Donna Mullin, all of Caro; brother-in-law, David Coffey of North Branch; partner, David Jones of Covington, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Lori Coffey; and one brother, Michael Mullin. In keeping with Edward's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at the Ellington Township Cemetery with Rev. Michele Hile officiating. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials contributions to the American Cancer Society.
