Edward David Tucker was born on August 19, 1969, and passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Ed personified the meaning of having a servant’s heart. Whether it was the patients he served as a Medic in the Army and as a Paramedic throughout Michigan; the communities of Frankenmuth and Birch Run he served as a Reserve Police Officer; the EMT and Paramedic students he instructed; the families he supported as a Medical Death Investigator; the person who received the organ he transported through the Nationwide Organ Recovery Transport Alliance; or the people he was lucky enough to sit next to at Dialysis for over twenty years — his kindness, dedication, and professionalism never wavered. Ed was a light in the world and a strong witness to his faith. We are all better humans for having known him.
Ed was a devoted husband to Kari and father to his sons, Ben and Owen. He was so proud of the men his sons were becoming and never passed up the opportunity to spend the extra minute guiding and listening to them. He made certain they knew that we don't always get a choice in what our paths are in life, but we do have a choice in how we respond to that path. Ed exemplified that message in all that he did.
He is also survived by his siblings: Bill (Julie), Patti (Rob), Lisa (Chip), Leslie, Karen, Kathy (Gary), and Bernie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who were family. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Herbert (Hap) and Patricia Tucker; his in-laws, Bernard and Doris Roberts; as well as his brother-in-law, Jack, and nephew, Nick.
Per Ed's wishes, there will be no formal service, and a celebration of his life will be held in the near future. To honor him, please consider praying with someone, even if it seems awkward at first; taking the extra minute with your patients, because it really is an honor to serve them; and cheering on all the kids on the team, because every child deserves a champion. Ed’s sons meant everything to him. In honor of his memory, those wishing to express their sympathy are asked to consider a contribution to his sons’ education fund, c/o Kari Stephens, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
