Edward J. Wrubel

Edward J. Wrubel, age 80, of Port Austin, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Brian’s House in Bay City.

Ed was born November 27, 1929 in Detroit to the late Edward and Pauline Wrubel. He graduated from St. Stanislaus High School in 1947 and then served in the US Army during the Korean War as well an additional eleven years in the National Guard Reserve. On March 26, 1951 he married Anne Gutenkunst at St. Veronica Catholic Church in East Detroit.

He retired from Detroit Macomb Hospital Corporation in 1989. He was a member of the Caseville Eagles, Eastpointe Oddfellows, and the Port Austin American Legion. An accomplished musician, he enjoyed playing accordion. After retiring he moved from East Detroit to Oak Beach in 1989.

Cherished husband of Anne; loving father and best friend to Debra Shipman of Oxford and Michael (Jill) of Grosse Pointe Woods; proud grandfather to Matthew, Courtney, Eric and Justin; brother to Rose Daniska, Leonard Wrubel and Beverly Scavo all of St. Clair Shores.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey.

Memorial Mass 11:00 am Saturday, October 23rd at St. Felix Catholic Church, Pinnebog (3515 Limerick Road, Kinde MI 48445), followed by a luncheon at the Caseville Eagles. Military honors will be provided by the Port Austin American Legion.

Champagne Funeral Chapel of Caseville is handling the arrangements.
