Edwin “BUD” H. Baker, age 81, retire Oliver Twp. dairyman, died Friday afternoon, December 16, at Courtney manor, Bad Axe.
He was born June 1, 1924, in Oliver Twp. at the home of his parents, the late Robert and Susan (Schneider) Baker.
Bud served in the US Army in Europe during WW II. Shortly after retuning home he was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Alexander in Grayling on August 16, 1947.
They lived and farmed in Oliver Twp. most of their lives, primarily in dairy. He sold the herd and retired in 1990. Dorothy passed away the following year on April 9, 1991.
Bud was an active member of the Elkton VFW Carpenter-Dorsch Post 6013 and will be remembered for the many years of service to the Oliver Twp. Board serving as trustee for over 33 years. After retiring, Bud did a lot of traveling, all over the US and also went to Europe.
Surviving are his daughter, Beverly (Walter) Stakvo of Shelby Twp.; his son, Allen Baker of Carthage, IN; four grandchildren, Kelly (Chris) Losh, Kristen Diem, Amanda Baker and Crystal Baker; four great grandchildren, Heath, Larissa, Makenna and Cecilia and two sisters, Dorothy Armstrong of Waterford and Edith Snell of Wayne. Preceding him in death were a brother, Robert Baker and three sisters, Helen Ritter, Lydia Rosenthal and Marguerite Miller.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton with burial in Colfax Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM on Wednesday and after 10 AM Thursday.
Memorials may be given to the Oliver Twp. Fire Dept.
