Edwin L. "TED" Eby, age 82, of Elkton went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday evening, May 21, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on his Mom and Dad's farm at the south limits of Elkton on April 14, 1926 to the late Allen and Adeline (Roth) Eby.
He graduated from Elkton High School in 1944. On July 20, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marie E. Kirk at the Coranado Baptist Church in Detroit.
Ted farmed with his dad until he went to Fort Wayne Bible College, majoring in Bible Studies, graduating in 1951. He was a lay pastor for the E.U.B. Church in Owendale for four and a half years where the family made many friends they hold dear to this day.
He loved his Bible and many other books on spiritual and historical matters. Reading was his number one pastime, his hobbies included gardening, fishing and woodworking.
Ted felt called to teaching and attended Central Michigan University where he earned both his B.S. and M.A. degrees in education. He taught in the Laker School District for twenty-seven years of which twenty-two of those years were in special education. Ted was a very active member of the Elkton Missionary Church for over 50 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie; his children, David and Kathy Eby of Owensboro, KY, Jerry and Iola Eby of Elkton, Jeanne and Rick Chisena of AuGres, and Becky and Douglas Shrake of Mooresville, IN; nine grandchildren Chris (Wendy) Eby, Eric (Christine) Eby, Aaron (Nisha) Chisena, Nathan (Christy) Chisena, Amy (David) Cooney, Allen (Kelley) Eby, Nicholas (Stephanie) Shrake, Andrea Shrake and Celia Marie Eby; seven great grandchildren, Logan, Carson, Alexa, Katarina and Adrian Eby, Sadie Harvey and Nolan Shrake.
Preceding him in death were his parents and only sister, Alene.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 27, at the Elkton Missionary Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Elkton.
Friends and family may call at the Champagne Funeral Chapel Elkton from 3 to 9 PM Monday and at the church after 10 Am Tuesday.
Memorials may be given to the church or Hospice of Michigan.
