Edwin Eugene Hiser

Edwin Eugene Hiser of Caro, age 72, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Medilodge of Cass City. Ed was born February 29, 1944 in Flint, the son of the late Clayton and Floris (McIntyre) Hiser. He was a 1962 graduate of Cass City High School. On July 26, 1963, Ed was united in marriage with the former Eileen Reetz at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. After some years in the auto industry, Ed started working as a contractor in the residential building business. In later years, he was custodian at St. Paul Lutheran Church, and had also worked in retail hardware and building centers. Ed enjoyed woodworking and playing golf. He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro, and served on many church committees. Ed is survived by his wife, Eileen Hiser of Caro; one son, Shane Hiser of Caro; four grandchildren, Aaron, Kayla, Terry and Brittany Hiser of Caro; three great- grandchildren, BrieAnna, Troy and Alayiah; his siblings, Carol & Robert Baker of Parker, Arizona, Orson & Amelia Hiser, living in the Philippines, Shirley Zissler of Flint; his in-laws, Joyce & Joseph Przygocki of Burton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by one son, Shawn, in 1994; and one sister, Roberta Holcomb. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Burial will follow at the Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund.
