Eileen E. McGee age 69, Laker Schools Educator died Sunday afternoon, November 30, at Scheurer Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born March 3, 1945 in Elkton at the home of her parents, the late Martin and Marie (Gelnaw) McGee and lived in Elkton her whole life.
Eileen (affectionately called "Idy") was loved by all who knew her. Eileen served as a caring, dedicated, nurturing teacher, athletic director, coach and advisor at Laker Junior High for 33 years. She loved her many trips with 8th grade students to Washington DC. She also enjoyed golf, bowling, traveling, playing cards and tracing family heritage and history. Idy was involved as a volunteer at St Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Autumn Fest and Friends of Elkton. She was well versed on State and National politics and loved a spirited discussion with friends and family on most topics.
She was loved and will be missed by her three sisters - Mary Ann (Don) Kinasz, Marlene (Ron) Bass, Kathleen McGee (Keely Mounger).
Idy has been a beloved Aunt to Susan McCleary, Colleen (Joe) Kahl, Cari (Danny) Sawicki, Mike McGee, Jeff (Debbie) Kinasz, Julie (Kirk) Stumberg, Steve (Buffy) Kinasz, Kathy Kinasz, Brian (Colleen) Bass, Michael ( Shelley) Bass, Michelle (Ron) Davis, Tom McGee and Patrick McGee - as well as several great nieces and nephews and two great-great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and their spouses, Daniel and Marianne McGee, Edward McGee, and Thomas and Dianna McGee.
Idy will also be missed by many friends especially her dear friends, Phyllis Podlaskowski, Bev Damn, Sally Buschlen and Donna Schuette.
She was "one of a kind" who loved to have fun. Her memory will live on forever in those who called her family or friend.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM December 5, at St Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. Fr. Rob Pare’ will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the church 1 hour prior to mass on Friday.
