Elaine M. Bardwell

Elaine M. Bardwell of Caro, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at her home. Elaine was born on January 8, 1946 in Bay City to the late Nelson and Ruth (Heinitz) Stahl, and was later raised by her parents, Harold and Ruth Thane. She was a 1964 Caro High School graduate and worked at Trudeau's Bakery through school. Elaine was united in marriage with Frederick J. Bardwell, Jr. on December 31, 1964 at the Caro United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2014. Elaine was a homemaker, and a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, reading, bird watching and ceramics. Elaine is survived by two children, Mitcheal Bardwell & Christine Linton of Ypsilanti, Randi Beth & Gary Skinner of Caro; six grandchildren, Audreyona Skinner, T.J. Skinner and his fianc, Alexis Garrett, Rebekkah Skinner, Koriin Skinner, Ashley Bardwell and Samantha Bardwell; five great-grandchildren, Bailey, Drake, Gabryella, Branttley and Blaze; her siblings, Lois Koeph, Kay Thane, Alice & Edward Slater, Jean Thane; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Twila Bardwell; brother- and sisters-in-law, Thom & Karla Bardwell, and Linda Bardwell. In addition to her husband and biological parents, Elaine was preceded in death by Harold Thane and his wife, Ramona; siblings, Floyd Thane, Leonard Thane, Marilyn & Norbert Fader; father-in-law, Frederick J. Bardwell, Sr.; and brother-in-law, Randy Bardwell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Sutton-Sunshine United Methodist Church in Caro with Rev. Dorothy Thon officiating. Burial will follow at Ellington Township Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
