Elaine E. Buchholz, 85 of Pigeon, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Covenant Cooper in Saginaw.
Born in Sebewaing on July 5, 1929, Elaine was the daughter of Walter O. and Leota A. (Zobel) Hornbacher, and graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1947.
After high school she was employed by Consumers Powers in Bay City. On February 2, 1951 she was united in marriage to Raymond Arthur Buchholz at Immanuel Lutheran in Sebewaing. Following her marriage, Elaine worked at Michigan Sugar Company in Sebewaing, helped Ray on the farm and cared for their two sons. Buchholz Trucking was formed in the early 1960s. Whether it be bookkeeping, running for parts or making lunches for the employees, Elaine was an instrumental part of the family trucking business until her "retirement". She and Ray loved to socialize. Elaine's friendly, positive personality and witty sense of humor made others love her and enjoy her company. It was common to see Elaine and Ray at many area festivals and restaurants. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary together in February. Elaine's grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her pure joy. She loved to watch and interact with them while visiting or view photos of them daily. When she was able, Elaine enjoyed walking the Caseville break wall. She was known by her family for her weekly grocery shopping. She gathered the weekly sale flyers, made lists and enjoyed a day of shopping. Elaine was a member of Cross Lutheran Church and the Women's Circle. She was a God loving woman. As a breast cancer survivor, she was strong but also believed her life was controlled by God's will. Her family is fortunate God gave them so many years with her.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Buchholz of Pigeon; sons, Randall (Cynthia) Buchholz and Kevin (fiancée Krissi Sears) Buchholz, both of Pigeon; granddaughter, Lisa (John) McCain; grandsons, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Buchholz, Blaine (Erin) Buchholz, Kyle (Nicole) Buchholz, and Corbin Buchholz; and great-grandchildren: Connor, Carson, Grant, Wyatt, Jameson, Everett, and Joel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Leota Hornbacher and her stepfather, Lyle Demo.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Cross Lutheran Church, Pigeon, with Rev. Timothy Loehrke, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
