Elaine Jane (Badour) McArdle passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
Elaine was born October 7, 1933 to Frank and Clara (Pero) Badour in Essexville. She graduated from Mercy School of Practical Nursing in Cadillac in 1957 and began working at Mercy Hospital in Bay City. Elaine married Leo McArdle on May 26, 1962 at St. John's Catholic Church in Essexville. She lived and worked with her husband on their Chandler Township farm for 38 years, where they raised seven children before moving to the Village of Elkton.
Elaine was a religious education teacher for St. Felix in Pinnebog and St. Francis in Pigeon, where she was also a member of the Altar Society. Once her children were busy in school, Elaine returned to work as a nurse. She worked at Sunny Acres in Bad Axe and Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care Facility in Pigeon before retiring in 1999. She enjoyed gardening and preserving the fruits of her labor.
Elaine is survived by her children: Rosemary Benjamin of Perry, Leo (Amy) McArdle II of Pigeon, Mary (Mike) Tait of Caseville, Delores McArdle of Mio, Pat (Gloria) McArdle of Elkton, Maureen (Alejandro) Bacon of Belleville, Peter (Michelle) McArdle of Elkton, and Kris Babcock of Mio; a sister, Vermilda Wyzkiewicz of Essexville; 17 grandchildren; several sisters and brothers-in-law; and many, many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Leo McArdle in 2004; her parents, Frank and Clara Badour; a brother, Ernest Badour; a sister, Doris Savage; and several sisters and brothers-in-law.
Memorials may be made to the family discretionary fund, Laker High School Nursing scholarship, or St. Felix Cemetery fund.
The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon, with Fr. Robert Pare officiating. Burial will be in St. Felix Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be Friday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. at the Meyersieck-Bussema Funeral Home, Pigeon.
