Elaine J. Poirier

Elaine J. Poirier, 83, of Pigeon, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Country Gardens in Pigeon.

Elaine was born February 19, 1939 in New Lothrop to the late William and Hilda (Schwab) Summerfield. She graduated in 1957 from Reese High School. On August 30, 1958 she married Eugene J. Poirier in Munger; he preceded her in death April 30, 2006.

Elaine retired in 2001 after working 33 years as the office manager at the Pigeon Clinic. She was a member of Our Lady Perpetual Help Parish, and she volunteered at Scheurer Health and delivered Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling, especially throughout the Great Lakes on their motorboat. She loved spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping trips along with her friends Dorothy, Janice and Shirley.

Elaine is survived by her daughters Kimberly (Arlin) Swartzendruber of Pigeon and Shelly (Troy) Gunden of Pigeon; grandchildren Rebecca (Hans) Eichler, Trista Swartzendruber, Heather Gunden and Evan (Sara) Gunden; great-grandchildren Sean (Samantha) Clark, Ethan (Kaylynn Meyers) Eichler, Jaden Eichler, Owen Eichler and Dylan Eichler; great-great grandchildren Harold, J.J., and Emery Rose; and a sister Kathy (Gordy) Daniels of Reese. She was preceded in death by her sister Leona Maxson.

Funeral services will be at 5:00pm Wednesday, February 15th at the Champagne Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Bouverette officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Borgia Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon Wednesday until the time of the service.
