Eleanor Lucille Dietzel, age 65, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at her home. Eleanor was born February 27, 1947 in Mancelona, the daughter of the late Rev. Lewis and Edith (Kitchin) Surbrook. She was united in marriage with Earl Dietzel on July 10, 1964 in Marlette and the couple has cherished more than forty-eight years together. Eleanor will be best remembered as a woman of God, loving wife and devoted mother. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed sewing and altering clothes for friends and family. She also liked crafts, volunteering her time, flowers, bird watching, and wearing bright colors with “bling”. Eleanor was a member of the Caro Assembly of God Church and enjoyed singing and playing the tambourine there. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her family pets. Eleanor is survived by her husband, Earl Dietzel of Caro; four children and their spouses, Rev. David & Julie Dietzel of Caro, Timothy Dietzel of Marlette, Rev. Paul & Jessica Dietzel of Corunna, Mary Campbell of Caro; her grandchildren, Noel and Jeremiah Dietzel, Thomas Levine, Andrew and Johannah Campbell, Austin, Emily, Elijah, Autumn and Lillie Dietzel; two great-grandchildren, Amare Fredrickson and Amelia Dietzel; her siblings, Evelyn & Wayne Whittaker of Cass City, Rev. Mark & Linda Surbrook of Miltonvale, Kansas, Sharyn & Ronald Perry of Overland Park, Kansas; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Sugden; two brothers, Ray Surbrook and infant Dean L. Surbrook; one son-in-law, David Campbell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Pastor Arnold Burger officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will follow at a later date in Indianfields Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Family Discretionary Fund.
