Eleanor J. Horst, age 89, of Owendale, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon.
Eleanor was born March 22, 1925 in Bach, Michigan, the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Haug) Brining. She married Edward Horst December 21, 1945 in Detroit, MI. Edward passed away December 21, 1987 after 42 years of marriage. She was a member of the Sebewaing American Legion Auxiliary. Eleanor enjoyed reading, playing cards, bingo and spending time with family.
Eleanor is survived by her children: Dennis (Elizabeth) Horst of South Lyon, MI, Leeann May of Ashland, KY and Sherry Santilli of Clinton Twp., MI; one sister, Mildred Singler; grandchildren: Dennis "Scott" (Kelli) Horst, Gregory S. (Kristi) Horst, Stu (Laura) Stirrett, Chad (Renee) Stirrett, Kenny Engelhardt, Kurt Engelhardt, and Kathy (Rob) Curdie; great grandchildren: Zach, Nicole and Garrett Horst, Jed and Collin Horst, Zoe and Grace Stirrett, Gunnar, Braden and Jordan Stirrett, Kyle Engelhardt, Matteo and Martino Curdie.
Preceded in death by her husband, Edward Horst; sons-in-law: Gary May and Samuel Santilli; sister, Pearl Johnson; brother, Albert Brining, Jr.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Owendale United Methodist Church, 7370 Main St., Owendale, MI 48754. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am.
Cremation has taken place. Burial of her cremains will take place immediately following the service at Grant Township Cemetery in Gagetown.
Memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice.
