Eleanor Marker, age 92, of Unionville, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2020, at the Cortland House of the Tuscola Medical Care Facility.
Eleanor was born April 30, 1928, in Detroit, to Theodore and Suzanna (Koreck) Christian. After graduating from high school she received her teaching certificate and taught one year in a one room school house. The next year the schools merged and she was no longer able to teach due to the distance to the new school. She married John Marker on February 28, 1948 at the Unionville Moravian Church. He preceded her in death on September 25, 2001.
Eleanor was a member of Unionville Moravian Church since her marriage in 1948. She was active in the church choir and Women's Fellowship. She enjoyed being a school crossing guard for many years, enjoyed camping, reading, working word search puzzles, coloring, crafting, and journaling. She always sent cards to family and friends and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eleanor is survived by the children: Allen Marker, Randy Marker, Scott (Carolyn) Marker, Lorri Marker, Cheri (Ken) Jezierski and Tammy Rodriguez; grandchildren: Aaron (Lisa) Marker, Janene (Brad) Susalla, John Brandmaier, Cory Brandmaier, Philip (Maria) Jezierski, Matthew (Samantha) Jezierski, Kelly (Jeffry) Harrison, Dakota Rodriguez and Nicole Rodriguez; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; siblings: Theodore Christian and Marge Shapow; brother and sister-in-laws: Jim (Dee) Marker, Peggy (Tom) Wark and Vicky (Tom) Thorold; and special caregiver, Kelsey.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents: Theodore and Suzanna Christian; husband, John; brother, Elmer Christian; and brother-in-law, James Shapow; and sisters-in-law: Elaine Christian and Ellie Christian.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 28, 2020, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing, from 2-8pm. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, masks must be worn and only 10 people allowed in the funeral home at a time.
The funeral service will be Monday, June 29, 2020, at the Unionville Moravian Church. Visitation and service will be outside at the church starting at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Rev. Tim Naisby will be officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to the Unionville Moravian Church or ACW Ambulance.
