Eleanor (Smith) Perry, age 78 of Caseville, died Monday morning, January 5, at Scheurer Hospital, Pigeon.
She was born March 1, 1925 at the home of her parents the late Albertus and Suzie (Vahovick) Langley in Chandler Twp. and lived in the Caseville area most of her life.
On December 21, 1942 she was united in marriage to Donald E. Smith in Pigeon. He preceded her in death November 4, 1966.
Over the years, Eleanor worked as a waitress at Dormey’s Blue Water Inn, Rasique Restaurant, The Log Cabin Restaurant and Walt’s all of which were in Caseville. She had also been employed at Sebewaing Industries for several years.
She was a member of St. Roch Catholic Church and a former member of the Caseville Eagle Auxiliary.
Surviving are five children, Caroline (John) Reyes of Detroit, Hugh (Janine) Smith of Caseville, Rollie Smith of Owendale, Toni (Dennis) Vollmer of Caseville and Heidi (Jay) Lee of Almont; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; her brother, Red Langley and five sisters, Frances Gorski of Caseville, Erma (Chuck) Steel of Bay Port, Helen Guster of Caseville, Lois (Leonard) Dillon and Mary (Robert) Orban both of Unionville. Preceding her in death were a grandson, Billy Joe Rayes; four brothers, Leonard, John, Archie and Tuck and her sister Deloris Steinman.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday January 8 at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. A parish scripture service will be conducted 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Caseville where friends may call from 7 to 9 PM Tuesday, 2 to 9 PM Wednesday and at the church after 10:00 AM Thursday.
