Eleanor L. Verfaillie, age 84, of Caseville died Sunday, October 21, at her home from colon cancer.
She was born December 14, 1922, in Detroit to the late Cerial and Leona Persyn.
On October 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to Marcel J. Verfaillie in Detroit.
Eleanor had been a secretary for S. S. Kresege's Department Store in Detroit. She and Marcel lived and raised their family in Detroit. In January of 1989, they moved to Caseville to be nearer their children. A few months later, Marcel preceded her in death on April 24, 1990.
Eleanor was an active member of St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville. She enjoyed have her family near by and collecting clowns, dolls and angels.
Surviving are three children, Amy (Larry) Joseph of Chesterfield Twp, Rita Lackie of Caseville and Don Verfaillie of East Pointe; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Georgett (Jim) Lemmon of Clinton Twp., Mary Van Haul of Frazer and Ermma (Don) Lux of Sterling Heights and her brother, Roger (Marian) Persyn of East Point.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Frank and Barney Persyn and two sisters, Sally Gerber and Bernice Hunsinger.
A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 24, at St. Roch Catholic Church, Caseville where friends may call after 9:00 AM until the time of services.
Rev. Fr. Kenneth Yaroch will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
