Elena G. Gomez

Elena G. Gomez of Caro, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Covenant Health Care - Cooper in Saginaw. She was born September 12, 1921 in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of the late Jose and Josephine Garcia. Elena was united in marriage with Manuel A. Gomez on April 11, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas, and he preceded her in death on March 10, 2000. She was a member of Living Waters Chapel, where she taught Sunday School. Elena loved her family and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren, and also enjoyed sewing for them. Elena is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Charlie & Bonnie Gomez of Caro, Irene Rodriguez of Lapeer, Victor & Mary Gomez of Caro, Diana & Edward Cruz of Dallas, Texas, Sylvia & Donald Brigham of Grayling, Ida Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Louis Gomez of Caro; son-in-law, James Miller; twenty-three grandchildren, sixty-eight great-grandchildren and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six siblings; one grandson, Mario Cruz; and two great-grandsons, Ricardo Gomez and Adam Gomez. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the Living Waters Chapel in Caro with Revs. Jon Terry and James Solomon officiating. Burial will follow at Indianfields Township Cemetery in Caro.
