Elida Ramos

Mrs. Elida Ramos, age 92, passed away in her home, Monday, September 1, 2008, surrounded by her children, as she surrendered her body, mind and soul to join her heavenly Father. She was born on July 27, 1916, to Zenida and Rafael Alvardo in Texas. Elida married Pedro Ramos Jr. on August 20, 1934, in Texas. They had ten children, four who pre-deceased them before they moved to Elkton in 1953. Moving to Jackson in 1972, they were married 44 years before Pedro’s death on February 2, 1979.
Mrs. Ramos is survived by four daughters, Georgina (Alfredo Sr.) Santos, Elkton, Maria Adelina “Mary” Medina, Jackson, Maria G. “Lupe” Ramos, Jackson, San Juanita “Jane” (Lawrence) Wasierski, Dover, FL, and one son, Pedro Ramos Jr., Jackson; a son, Rogelio “Roy” Ramos, also pre-deceased her; 13 grandchildren, Alfredo (Lori) Santos Jr., Josefina Elida “Lily” Mason, Woodstock, GA, Pedro (Jan) Santos, Bay City, Martha (Steve) Batts, Essexville, Rogelio “Shorty” Ramos Jr., Evart, MI, Tina Ramos, Flint, Angela Wasierski, Dover, San Juanita “Joanne” Medina, Jackson, Lawrence “JR” Wasierski, Dover, Peter Paul Ramos, Jackson, Eric Wasierski, Dover, Steven Ramos, Jackson and Crystal Ramos, Adrian; 19 great-grandchildren, Joshua Santos, Chad (Sara) Santos, Sarah Santos, Matthew Santos, Stephanie (Andrew) Hart, Javier Wasierski, Joshua Ramos, Austin Ramos, Jonathan Wasierski, Jordan Ramos, Jewels Fowler, Kaitlynn Wasierski, Arianna Ramos, Amber Bland, Adelina Rosas, Rachael Ramos, Tianna Sharp, Megalita Ramos, and Santiago Ramos; and four great-great-grandchildren, Amanda Santos, Zechariah Hart, Dominique Ramos and Colton Santos.
Mrs. Ramos was a deeply devoted Catholic who found peace in praying her rosary and spending hours in daily prayer. She was a former member of St. Francis Borgia Parish in Pigeon and a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Jackson. Mrs. Ramos also enjoyed spending her time sewing, attending to her plants and bird watching.
A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, September 4, 2008, with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Reilly presiding. Interment was at St. John’s cemetery in Jackson. Funeral arrangements were conducted by Desnoyer Funeral Home, Jackson.
