Eliza Simmons

Eliza Sarah Simmons, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Rendons Young At Heart AFC Home in Caro. She was born on November 5, 1915 in Deford, the daughter of the late John and Irene (Stock) Elley. The former Eliza Elley was united in marriage with Orlie Simmons on June 17, 1939 in Pontiac. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1999. She was a homemaker and mother and a lifelong member of the Methodist faith, having attended the Sutton Sunshine United Methodist Church and the Caro United Methodist Church. Eliza was a member and Past Matron of the Kedron Chapter #33 OES, and enjoyed shuffle boarding in Florida and Caro and a good game of cards. Eliza is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Donald & Joan Simmons of Caseville; four granddaughters, Deanna & Monte Frick of Goodrich, Kristie Peto of Otisville, Pamela & Paul Jacobson of Negaunee, and Julie & Norm Naimy of Dewitt; seven great-grandchildren, Katie and Dolan Frick, Meagan Peto, Luke, Allyson and Maddyson Jacobson, Brendan and Kaylie Naimy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Orlie, Eliza was preceded in death by one daughter and her husband, Joan and Richard Karelse. The funeral and committal services will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 1, 2011 with Rev. Gregg Mayberry officiating. Visitation will be held at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.
