Elizabeth Holik

Elizabeth L. Holik, age 82, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 at her home, following a lingering illness. Elizabeth was born September 16, 1929 in Pigeon, the daughter of the late Gordon and Hazel (Hamilton) Miller. She graduated from Pigeon High School in 1947 and was united in marriage with Lyle Holik on June 28, 1947. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2012. The couple would have celebrated sixty-five years of marriage this year. Elizabeth was employed at the Caro Regional Center for thirty-one years, retiring in 1984. During that time, she had many different jobs including housekeeper, attendant nurse, teacher, activity aide and manager of the canteen. Elizabeth enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, square dancing, oil painting, playing the piano at church, singing in the choir, sewing, traveling, swimming and motorcycle riding. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Gary & Kathryn Holik, Steve & Carla Holik, Beth & Robert Skinner, Randy & Ellen Holik, all of Caro; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Frannie Aschliman of Rochester and Joan & Paul Repshinska of Gagetown; many nieces, nephews and her dog and constant companion, Queenie. In addition to her husband and parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by one brother and his wife, Ralph & Doris Miller; one sister and her husband, Doris & Earl Buschlen; one brother-in-law, Irvin Aschliman; and one grandson, Richard Holik. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Juniata Baptist Church in Vassar with Mrs. Holiks grandson, Rev. Anthony Hayden, officiating. Burial will follow at the Juniata Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association.
