Elizabeth Alice Krohn age 92, of Oliver Twp. died Thursday afternoon, August 30, at Courtney Manor, Bad Axe.
She was born March 30, 1920 in Oliver Twp. on a farm just north of Elkton, the home of her parents, the late Thomas and Lucy (Bursick) Barry. She graduated from Elkton High School in 1938.
On August 31, 1940, she was united in marriage to Arnold R. Krohn at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Sebewaing. She and Arnie lived on a farm west of Elkton all their married life. During WW II, she was employed at the Box Factory, Elkton, helping the war effort. During the fifties, managed Bud’s Bar in Elkton. Alice trained to become a nurse’s aide and was employed at Scheurer until 1965, retiring for health reasons.
Alice was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Altar Society in Pigeon. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. Cooking is where she excelled making treats for her family and friends, whom she loved having around her.
Surviving are her son, Robert Ross; three sisters, Marge Heckman of Pigeon, Helene Smith of Saginaw and Virginia Plevnia of Bad Axe; a brother, John Barry of Elkton and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, were four sisters, Ethel Zaremba, Marion Lane, Anna Mae Lee and Jeanette Barry and a brother, Louis Barry.
A funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 4, at St Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Pigeon. Fr. John Wies, pastor will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Champagne Funerl Chapel, Elkton from 2 to 8 PM Monday and at the church after 10 AM Tuesday.
Memorial gifts may be given to her church.
