Elizabeth Riley

Elizabeth Dorothy Riley, age 86 years, of Caro, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born Elizabeth Dorothy Pierog on January 19, 1921 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the only child of the late Walter and Julia (Horvath) Pierog. On May 1, 1943 Dottie married O. Keith Riley in Bloomfield, New Jersey. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1999. In addition to being a devoted daughter, wife and mother, Dottie was employed as a purchasing agent at the Caro Regional Center until her retirement. She enjoyed china painting, a good game of golf with her husband, and the activities of her family. She was very active in the Caro Exchange Club, being one of the first female members as well as the first female president. Dottie was also a member of the Wixson Club and devoted to Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Greg (Sharon) Riley of Presque Isle, Patricia (Richard) Brady of Petoskey, Mike (Laura) Riley of St. Helen, Maureen Riley of Caro, Janice (Robert) Osborn of Caro, Julia (Jim) Matuszak of Caro, John (Vicki) Riley of Caro and LT CMDR. Brian Riley, USN (Ret.) of Caro; eighteen grandchildren and spouses; nine great-grand-children; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Hazen. The Funeral Liturgy will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Kucharczyk officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro Community Hospital Endowment Foundation, or the Tuscola County Fair Association.
