Elizabeth A. Schweitzer, age 83 years, of Caro, died on Monday, April 9, 2007 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. The former Elizabeth Toht was born on June 13, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio. She moved to Detroit as a child, moved to Cass City, and then on to Pigeon as a young lady. Elizabeth Toht married Edward Fibranz, and he preceded her in August 1955. On November 10,1956 she married Herb Schweitzer, and he preceded her in August of 1974. For more than 20 years she was a companion to Bernie Swick until his passing. They enjoyed traveling, and she was an accomplished musician and had her own band in Florida. Betty enjoyed crocheting and shuffleboard. She was a devoted mother and a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville. She is survived by five children, Phyllis (Kinsey) Hazard of Bad Axe, Barry Schweitzer of Vassar, Barbara (John) Borka of Columbiaville, Nancy Eberline of Sebewaing and Dale (June) Schweitzer of Pigeon; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Fibranz; and her siblings, Mary Sayers and infant brother John. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 11:00 am with Pastor Lee Wenskey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville.
