Elizabeth M. Socier, age 98, left her earthly life on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro.
Elizabeth was born February 6, 1918, to the late William and Minnie (Schmidt) Noss. Of her family there were 3 siblings, Norm Noss, Phyllis Eigner, and Charlotte Claerhout (whom are all deceased). She was united in marriage to Edward Socier on September 6, 1935. They lived in Munger until 1947 when they moved to Unionville to continue potato farming until they retired. They lived in Holiday FL in the winter season for many years. Edward preceded her in death on June 11, 1996.
She was known for her love for her family. She truly enjoyed all the visits in Florida from her children, grandchildren, and many friends. She also enjoyed working on the farm, playing cards, dancing and baking. Elizabeth's memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends for generations to come.
She leaves to cherish her memory her 3 daughters, Wave Vermeersch of Unionville, Betty (Lee) Southgate of Unionville, Judy (Jim) Spinney of Unionville, 2 sons, Gary (Janet) Socier of Unionville, and Bill (Pam) Socier of Pinconning. Grandchildren: Wendy Wood, Brenda (Rick) Wood, Kristy (Scott) Hasper, Sheila (Jim) Bourdon, Gloria (Scott) Gainforth, Grant (Kim) Vermeersch, Aaron (Tammy) Vermeersch, Dale Southgate, Dennis (Karen) Southgate, Dave Southgate, Dean (Cindy) Southgate, Tammy Millerwise, Kim (Ella) Cramer, Joe (Nikki) Spinney, Jeff Spinney, Jerry (Roxanne) Spinney, Cindy Socier, Vicki Koritnik, Connie (Bryan) Gangler, Julie (Lucas) Weber, Mike (Taren) Socier, Scott (Debra) Socier and Nick (Raelyn) Socier; 36 great grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.
Besides her husband and siblings, she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Richard Vermeersch; grandson, Gregg Vermeersch; granddaughter, Lynette Hahn; and great grandsons: William Gainforth and Louis "Buck" Socier.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 26, 2016, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 2-7pm, with a 5pm prayer service.
The funeral Mass will be Monday, June 27, 2016, at Our Lady of Consolata – Holy Family Parish. Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until time of Mass at 11am.
A private burial will take place at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Unionville.
Memorial donations may be given to Holy Family Catholic Cemetery Fund, Our Lady of Consolata – Holy Family Parish Roof Fund or the ACW Ambulance.
