Ella May Becker

Ella May Becker, age 92, of Cass City died Friday evening, January 14, at her home while under hospice care.

She was born May 10, 1918 at the home of her parents, the late James and Clara (Respondik) Hewitt in Greenleaf Twp, Sanilac County.
Ella was a 1936 graduate of Cass City High School and married later that year to Donald Becker on September 10th at the Holbrook Methodist Church near her home.
After her marriage they lived on a farm west of Elkton until the war broke out. At that time they moved to Wayne and help with the building of supplies for the war effort. In 1945, they moved to a farm in Greenleaf Twp., then to Bad Axe until 1961 when they went back to the farm. Her husband, Don passed away, January 11, 1979, shortly after, Ella moved from the farm into Cass City.
Ella was a wonderful dancer, she and her dance partner; Don Buchanan at one time danced regularly at Maple Valley in Sandusky, Green School, Bad Axe and were members of the Lincoln Rd. Dance Club, Bay City. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes.

Surviving are her good friend Don Buchanan, two sons, Robert (Maxine) Becker of Cass City and Harold Becker of Washington State; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a great great grandson and her brother, Jim (Jeanette) Hewitt of Ubly.
Preceding her in death was a grandson, Gared Becker and a sister, Florence Campbell.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, at Faith Gospel Tabernacle, on Rescue Rd. Rev. Michael Beeler, pastor will officiate with burial in Elkland Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1 until the time of services at 4 PM Wednesday.
