Ella Maxwell Griem

Ella E. (Maxwell) Griem, age 82 of Port Austin died Monday morning, June 2, at Huron Medical Center.
She was born May 23, 1926 in Sebewaing to the late Fred and Alma (Priebe) Menzel.
On January 25, 1947, she was united in marriage to Howard Maxwell in Kilmanagh. He preceded her in death October 31, 1984.
She and Floyd L. Griem were married October 18, 1986 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Caseville and made their home near Port Austin.
Ella retired in 1980 after over 23 years as a cook/ bartender at June and Fargo's Tavern in Pigeon and had previously worked at the Pigeon Hotel many years.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, VFW auxiliary and the Caseville Eagles Auxiliary. Ella enjoyed watching hummingbirds, deer and wild turkeys in her backyard and would keep her hands busy crocheting.
Surviving are her husband, Floyd; four daughters, Beverly (Paul) Leyva of Gagetown, Marjorie (Ron) Rabideau of Gagetown, Ila (Kevin) Wiechert of Gillette, WY and Barbara ( Frank) Wilding of Bay Port; six step children, Janet Walden & J R Keeling of Port Austin, Carol (Darrell) Deck of Cass City, Linda (Tom) Campbell of Port Austin, Ronald Griem of Kinchloe, Brian Griem and special friend, Carol Veginski of Port Austin and Wendy (Dave) Deacons of Filion; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her uncle, Art (Millie) Priebe of Pigeon; a sister-in-law, Vera Menzel of Bay Port and two brothers-in-law, Richard (Mary) Griem of Utica and Gerald (Edwina) Griem of Lake Orion.
Preceding her in death was her son, Richard Maxwell and three brothers, Richard, Arnold and Raymond Menzel.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, June 6, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Caseville with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Berne.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM Thursday at the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton and at the church after 10 AM Friday.
Memorials may be given to God Shepherd or the American Heart Assn.
