Ellen Catherine Hazard

Ellen Catherine Hazard, age 89, of Colfax Twp. died Saturday morning, November 6, at Tender Care in Cass City.
She was born October 27, 1915 in New Lothrup at the home of her parents the late Robert and Ethel (Smith) Devroye. She moved to Huron County with her parents and siblings in1921, settling in Caseville.
On September 20, 1934, she was united in marriage to William H. Hazard at the Caseville Methodist Parsonage. Bill preceded her in death July 19, 1997.
Catherine was a member of the Elkton Missionary Church, past chairman of the Huron County Extension Clubs and the Huron County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are three sons, Don (Beverly) Hazard, Russ (Erma) Hazard
and Kinsey (Phyllis) Hazard all of Bad Axe; her daughter-in-law, Judy Hazard and her friend, Dean Alliton of Highland; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Beverly) Devroye of Caseville; her sister, Bertha Cilc of Caseville.
Her son, Bruce; a great grandson, Nathan Brakenberry; three sisters, Mildred Caster, Hazel Mintz and Mary Ellen McGarvey and a brother, Robert Devroye Jr. preceded her in death.
Funeral services are to be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, Nov. 9, the Champagne Funeral Chapel, Elkton. Rev. Reggie Courless, pastor will officiate with burial in Colfax Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 9 PM Monday and after 10 AM Tuesday. Memorial may be directed to Missionary Church Outreach Center or Heartland Hospice.
