Ellen L. Wolford, 96, of Pigeon, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro.
Ellen was born August 13, 1927 in Deerfield Twp to the late Cecil and Leone (Stephenson) Larkin. She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit and later attended Michigan State University studying Early Childhood Education. She married Edward H. Wolford on February 22, 1948 in Negaunee; he preceded her in death on December 23, 2002.
Ellen retired as a teacher having worked for the Head Start Program and special education. She was a member of Salem Methodist Church and Scheurer Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Girl Scout Leader and was devoted to her family.
Ellen is survived by her children Linda of Pigeon, Russell (Maggie) of Pigeon, Jean Webber of Pigeon and Janet Larkin of Texas; grandchildren Jennifer (Christian) Harger, Angela Hughes, Alissa Kraft, Ashley Wolford, Hollie (Bill) Myers, Stephen (April) Rathje, and Shelby (Aaron) Luedtke; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Judith Ann, brothers Clayton and Bernard Larkin, sons-in-law Leonard Johnson and Robert Webber Jr.
A memorial service will be at 11:00am Friday, August 2nd at the Salem Methodist Church with Rev. Joshua Johnson officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 Thursday, August 1st at the Champagne Funeral Chapel.
