Ellery Wayne Fritz

Ellery Wayne Fritz, age 87, of Pigeon, passed away July 2, 2025 after a month long illness at McLaren Thumb Region.

Ellery was born on March 10, 1938, in Pigeon, to Victor and Ella (Binder) Fritz. He was baptized, confirmed and a life-long member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church – Linkville. He married Shirley Lutz on October 20, 1984 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing. Ellery worked for Michigan Sugar Company, Pigeon Manufacturing, Weiderhold & Sons and finished at Gayari Farms driving truck. He loved driving truck! He also enjoyed hunting, riding his Harley, horses and going to his grandsons sporting events.

Ellery is survived by his wife, Shirley of Pigeon; daughter, Melissa (Jeramy) Deming of Port Austin and their 2 sons: Lance Deming of Port Austin and Tristan Deming of Port Austin; and his children: Rodney Fritz, Grand Prairie, Texas, Ricky Fritz, Sebewaing, Vicky Fritz, Cadillac, Gail (Stan) Talaski, Pigeon and Todd Fritz, Pontiac; 7 grandchildren: Josh Fritz, Joseph Talaski, Jon (Connie) Fritz, Kelsey (Jordan) Ruder, Rachael Fritz, Jacob Soper and Breanna Hartwick; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and another on the way in November; brother, Glenn (Jean) Fritz of Reese, and their daughter, DeeDee (Fuzz) Navagh of Hawthorn, CA; his in-laws: Joanne Harder, Sebewaing, Elaine (Bill) Fournier, Kawkawlin, Linda (Roger) Engelhardt, Sebewaing, Sharon (Mark) Schember, Elkton and Mark (Penny) Lutz, Sebewaing; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Ellery is preceded in death by his parents and niece, Carrie Wozniak.

Visitation will be Monday, July 7, 2025 at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home, Inc. in Sebewaing from 2-8pm.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (Linkville). Visitation will begin at the church at 10am until the time of service at 11am. Pastor Christopher Suggitt will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery 2pm.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Thumb Blessing Boxes or Myasthenia Gravis Foundation.
