Elmer J. Andrews, age 90, of Grant Twp. died Tuesday afternoon, November 20, at Tender Care in Cass City.
He was born July 17, 1922 at the home of his parents, the late Jay and Elizabeth (Parker) Andrews in Grant Twp. He grew up on a farm in Grant Twp. and was a 1941 graduate of Owendale High School.
On January 1, 1942, he was united in marriage to Iva M. Abbe at her parent’s home in Oliver Twp. They made the home on a farm in Grant Twp. where the raised their family.
Elmer farmed all his life, but was also employed at Active Industries, Elkton as a metal finisher for 34 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a very active member of the Owendale Community in Christ and was a Priest of the church. Elmer loved all high school sports and was given “Friend of Youth Award” from the Owen-Gage Schools.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Iva; four children, Jim (Eunice) Andrews of Peoria, IL, Roger (Lynn) Andrews of Monet, MO, Linda (Joe) Warack of Grant Twp. and Susan Andrews of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, Shelley, Jay, Michael, Steven and Lisa; six great grandchildren, Nicholas, Travis, Jimmy, Lilly, Spencer, Grace, Nicole and Brandon.
Preceding him in death were his grandson, Adam Warack and two brothers, Ervin and Harlan Andrews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, November 25, at the Owendale Community in Christ Church with interment in Grant Twp. Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home in Elkton and after 2 PM Sunday at church
