Elmer R. Maust

Elmer R. Maust, age 90 of Pigeon, passed away early Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Scheurer Hospital Long Term Care in Pigeon.
Born in Bay Port on August 27, 1921, he was the son of the late Earl and Idella (Overholt) Maust. On June 9, 1943 he was united in marriage to Marie P. Swartzendruber at Pigeon River Mennonite Church. She preceded him in death on May 16, 1998.
Elmer was a farmer throughout his lifetime. He was a faithful member of Pigeon River Mennonite Church, and when asked about the blessings that fulfilled his life, he replied, "family, farming, church, and music."
He is survived by his children, Wendell L. (Lois) Maust, Marge A. (Sandy) Maust, Marvin
D. (Lori) Maust and Faye D. Hurren; 10 grandchildren: Weldon (Rebecca), Angela, Donovan (Susan), Nathan (Beth), Brandon, Gregory (Emily), Erika, Jackson (Katie), Marcus, and Casey; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Cora Yoder, Glenn (Erma) Maust and James (Freda) Maust; and in-law Arlene Swartzendruber, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, Gale, a son-in-law, Doug Hurren and a sister, Gertrude Dutcher.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012 at Pigeon River Mennonite Church, with Pastor Alvin Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may go to the Huron County Hunger Relief Project or Pigeon River Mennonite Church.

Sunday, August 12 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Monday, August 13 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m.
