Elmer Ernest Miller of Caro, age 79, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 17, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Elmer was born in Caro on May 16, 1946, the son of the late Gerald & Ernel (Jacot) Miller. He attended school in Caro and was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army in August of 1967. While in the service, he served as a tank operator with the 144th Field Artillery Regiment in the DMZ. Upon his honorable discharge, Elmer returned to Caro to marry the love of his life, Patsy Rich, on June 7, 1969. Most of Elmer’s working years were spent with the Village of Caro at the Department of Public Works and as a corrections officer at Camp Tuscola in Caro, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Caro First Baptist Church and served as a teacher for its Awana program for many years. In his spare time, Elmer enjoyed being outdoors, enjoying a bonfire with family and friends, feeding his birds, or simply watching deer. He also enjoyed crosswords and working on puzzles. Elmer leaves a legacy of deep faith, love, and kindness to now be carried on by those who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-five years, Patsy Miller; two children, Sue (Matt) Main, Linda Miller; four grandchildren, Matthew Miller (Lyndsey), Miranda Main (Devin), Dylan Bolzman, Jessica (John) Clark; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters. In addition to his parents, Elmer was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
