Elmer Gottlob Voss, age 84 years, of Sunrise Drive, Caro, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at Caro Community Hospital. He was born on September 7, 1921, in Essexville, baptized on October 2nd at Bethel Lutheran Church in Bay City, and confirmed on June 10, 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Merritt Township. On February 7, 1942, Elmer married the former Luetta Margaret Dorothea Bergman at Cross Lutheran Church in Pigeon. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1980. He then married the former Marilyn (Behr) Deering at Peace Lutheran Church in Sandusky. Elmer was a lifelong Tuscola County farmer living in the Deford and Caro areas. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove. He loved horses, both working and ponies, and a good game of cards. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; one daughter, Margaret LeValley of Caro; four sons and their spouses, Ronald (Linda) Voss of Deford, Lee (Sue) Voss of Deford, Earl (Beverly) Voss of Fairgrove, Paul (Cindy) Voss of Caro; his step-children Bonnie Watson of Hemans, Lee (Glenda) Deering of Deford, David (Kris) Deering of Deford, Sharon Deering of Bay City, Cathy (Tom) Chard of Decker, Rodney (Lisa) Deering of Deford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Eleanor Schlicker of Bay City and Archie (JoAnn) Voss of Daytona Beach, Florida; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Luetta, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Voss on October 12, 1984; and the remainder of his siblings, William, Clarence and Leonard Voss, Freida Oblinder and Laura Buchholz. The funeral will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairgrove on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Leonard Astrowski officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund at Grace Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.
