Elmo Paul Treiber, age 85, of Sebewaing, formerly of Unionville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, December 18, 2014.
El was born May 28, 1929, in Unionville to the late Jesse Treiber and Bertha (Schultz) Treiber. He graduated high school from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw and attended Michigan State University taking agricultural classes. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Doris Brassaw on November 22, 1956, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Saginaw. They spent 57 wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with their children, grandchildren and many dear friends. Doris preceded him in death on March 2, 2014. El enjoyed farming all of his life. He held several office positions at St. Paul Lutheran Church, was a member of Lutheran Laymen's League, and board member of Michigan Certified Seed, Farm Service Agency, and USA School Board. He enjoyed traveling, playing horseshoes, bowling, shuffleboard, going to Florida in the winters, and following USA sports, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, and Michigan State sports.
El is survived by his children: Paul (Libby) Treiber, Mark (Lisa) Treiber, Ann (Ralph) Hoppe, Connie (Marty) Ragnone and Roger (Sharon) Nocella; grandchildren: Jessica, Carly, Mackenzie, Erica, Aaron, Andy, Sarah, Ben, Ally, Cody, Jordan, Alexis and Sondra; great grandchildren: James, Shannon, Erin, Ernest, Clayton and Andrew; brother, Berthold (Martha) Treiber and sister, Ruth Ann; and loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandchildren: Joshua (survived by Mari), Shannon, and Tanya.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Juengel & Mellendorf Funeral Home in Sebewaing from 3-8pm.
The funeral service will be Sunday, December 28, 2014, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Visitation will begin at the church at 1pm until the time of service at 2pm.
Burial will take place at Columbia Township Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Lutheran Laymen's League.
